Surface Preparation
Remove marine growth & existing coatings from metal surfaces.
Abrade the metal with a mechanical grinder, wire wheel or by hand sanding (80-120Grit).
For newly polished/repaired metals, abrade the metal surfaces to remove any slight surface oxidisation.
Rinse metal surfaces with clean fresh water, ensuring that any abrasive residue is fully removed.
Surface Cleaning
Apply Prop Wash using a clean cloth to scrub the surface. Do not allow to dry.
Rinse surface with clean fresh water and wipe with a clean damp white cloth.
Repeat until cloth shows no discolouration.
Solvent wipe metal surfaces with acetone using a separate clean cloth.
Keep metal surfaces dry and free from contaminants, do not touch surface.
Continue with PropOne foul release coating application
PropOne Chemical Removal System, i.e. Silicone Remover and Paint Stripper
Silicone Remover
Remove all marine growth from surface.
Apply Silicone Remover approx. 2mm thick using a brush. Tip: Prevent drying out by covering the treated area with cling-wrap in hot/windy climates.
Do not allow remover to come in contact with water.
Leave in contact for 2-3 hours or until softened.
Remove with a stiff nylon or wire brush, scrubbing in a circular motion.
Wipe off any remaining residue with a xylene or toluene-soaked cloth.
If any coating remains after scraping, apply second coat.
Once done, proceed with Paint Stripper
Paint Stripper
Apply Paint Stripper approximately 2mm thick using a brush or roller
Leave in contact for at least 15 minutes or until softened
Scrape off coating with slight pressure and appropriately dispose of waste. A wire brush, strong scourer or paint scraping tool are recommended.
If any coating remains after scraping, apply second coat.
Wipe off any remaining residue with an acetone-soaked cloth, then hose-down surface to leave a bright metal surface.
